The Caring Cooks Culinary Nutrition Series presents the FVFFH approach to healthy eating while providing a fun and friendly hands-on learning environment. This 5 week Culinary Nutrition Series will give you experience and skills to create healthy dishes in your own kitchens. Each week the classes feature nutrition education lessons, hands-on cooking skills and tasting of the delicious dishes you prepare in class.

September 12 – An Introduction to A New Way of Cooking
FVFFH’s Food Philosophy, kitchen safety and knife skills, preparation methods and an introduction to the New American Plate, by the American Institute of Cancer Research.
September 26 – The Health Benefits of a Plant Based Diet
Learn the different types of plant based diets, how to stock a cancer-fighting kitchen and how to enhance the flavor of foods through fats, acid, sweet and salt.
October 10- Fruits, Vegetables, Antioxidants and Phytonutrients
Learn how phytonutrients in plant foods have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help to support your wellness. There are thousands but we will look at six that lead the pack in health benefits.
October 24 – Fueling up on Low Fat-Savor the Flavor without Fat.
Fats are an important part of a healthy diet, but it is easy to get confused about choosing the right types and the right amounts. Replacing high calorie/ high fat choices is a good way to lose or maintain weight and build healthy lifetime habits. Learn low fat alternatives and cooking methods to provide new ideas for old favorites.
